Revamped village show in Chineham could become annual event
A REVAMPED village show was held in Chineham – and organisers said they now hope to make it an annual event.
Dozens of residents contributed entries to the Chineham Village Show last Saturday at Christ Church, in Reading Road.
Talented residents showcased their skills in everything from baking, flower arranging, vegetable artwork, and photography.
The afternoon was organised by the Chineham Village Show committee of Penny Brown, Liz Lang, and Gillian Gath.
Ms Brown said the show gave people a chance to shine. She added: “It’s about giving the whole community in Chineham a show to exhibit their skills as well as meet together as a community.”
Christ Church curate Gordon Randall added that he was amazed at the range of talent on display. He added that he hopes the event will inspire people to take up a new hobby.
“People can participate in events like this if they are complete novices or have a bit of experience,” he said. In the past few years, the event has run twice before but Ms Brown said the committee are now keen to make it an annual fixture.
“We want it to be a yearly event really,” she said. “It may get people to try something new – and with a purpose. It gives people a chance to show what they are capable of.”
