Burst main left homes in Bitterne in Southampton without water supplies

WATER has now been restored to around 200 Hampshire homes after a burst water main cut supplies.
The burst main was reported around 6am this morning and as a result water to the homes had to be cut. Further properties also be experiencing a loss of pressure.
The water was put back on at around 8.30am after engineers spent two hours at the site of the burst four inch pipe in Bitterne Road East. According to a Southern Water spokesperson the problem took longer than anticipated to repair.
The company apologised to customers for the inconvenience and advised water in the affected area maybe discoloured temporarily.
A spokesperson said: “Tap water may temporarily be discoloured, which can happen when there is a disturbance in a water main. This is nothing to worry about - just run your kitchen tap until the water clears “We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused by the burst.”
