£200,000 Pavilion on the Park extension approved
PLANS to build a £200,000 extension at a Hampshire community hub have been given the green light.
A large hall, side rooms, a cafe and kitchen and indoor seating area will be attached to the Pavilion on the Park centre in Magpie Lane, Eastleigh.
There will also be a public toilet, a new picnic terrace outside the café and a new nursery play area in the quad area between the existing Pavilion and the new annexe.
The scheme, which will also include 22 new parking spaces and a separate cycle store, was approved at a meeting of Eastleigh Borough Council’s Eastleigh Local Area Committee.
Its chairman, Paul Bicknell, said: “This is a really exciting project that will benefit local residents from the Aviary Estate and beyond, together with other users of the park.
“The new development will help the Eastleigh Youth Trust who run the Pavilion to expand and improve the facility and activities that they can offer to local people.”
The project will be funded by £200,000 from developers’ contributions.
