Taster to Southampton's Festival of Remembrance

SOME of the south’s finest military musicians were performingin Southampton today ahead of the return of a festival.
Sixty of the region’s best musicians were playing in the city’s Guildhall Square ahead of the Hampshire Festival of Remembrance.
Today’s free band performance that started at 11.30am was a taster of what will be on offer at the festival.
The festival will return to Southampton on November 8 after a seven-year absence as a tribute to the UK’s armed forces.
Saints legend Matt Le Tissier will compere at the festival, which is organised by The Royal British Legion and will be held in the Guildhall at 7.30pm.
It will raise funds for the legion’s Poppy Appeal, which will be used to help members of the armed forces and their families.
Major Lawrence Sale, director of music at Sir John Moores Barracks in Winchester, will bring together the bands of units such as the Royal Signals, Light Cavalry, The Parachute Regiment and the Prince of Wales Division.
