THE winners of a short story competition in Southampton will be announced tomorrow.
An awards ceremony at the Civic Centre will see the winners of the competition announced.
Writers aged 11 and older have sent in stories inspired by the city to the competition, which is sponsored by the city council and Writers in Southampton.
Almost 100 entries were handed in, with the Civic Centre clock tower, docks and ghostly encounters all featured.
Prizes and certificates, including £500 for the first prize, will be handed out by Southampton-based author and Saltire prize winner Shena Mackay, who was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1996 for her novel The Orchard on Fire.
The awards ceremony will be held from 6.30pm to 8pm at the Northguild Lecture Theatre, next to the Central Library.
