Watch scheme holds fun day event

MORE than 40 people attended a Neighbourhood Watch morning at Augusta Park community centre in Andover on Saturday, 14 September.
The event aimed to raise the profile of Neighbourhood Watch schemes in the area and encourage more people to get involved.
Current Neighbourhood Watch coordinators and council staff were on hand to provide information about the scheme and the role of volunteers.
Andover Fire Station’s Blue Watch crew also attended to give youngsters and adults the opportunity to sit in a fire engine, while a police community support officer turned up with a police car for youngsters to sit in and have their finger prints taken.
In addition Andover Adult and Family Learning provided an emergency servicesthemed art activity for the youngsters and local residents served refreshments.
A local community warden also gave advice on bike and scooter security.
Local councillors Phil North and Alex Brook popped in to meet local residents along with Mayor of Test Valley, Councillor Janet Whiteley.
