Military mum's dishing out her business advice
10:00am Monday 30th September 2013 in News
A TIDWORTH military wife who has built up a highly successful international business from her family quarters will reveal the secrets of her success at a special women in business event on Wednesday.
Kirsten Smith, pictured, says entrepreneurial military wives are in the perfect position to launch their own businesses, and she should know.
Kristen has built up a highly successful specialist healthcare recruitment consultancy, Staff Medical Ltd, recruiting nurses across Europe to work in the UK.
She will be among the speakers at the first ever Women in Business event to be held at the new Castledown Enterprise Centre at Ludgershall.
The free event, including lunch, is aimed at women in the area who are thinking about becoming their own boss – or who may already run a business and are ready to take the next step.
“If you have a business idea, there’s lots of help in Wiltshire to turn that into reality; knowing there’s a second income in a family can really take the pressure off,” said Kristen whose husband is a sergeant based at Tidworth.
“My advice would be for Wiltshire women who have a great business idea to make the most of the support and help available through The Enterprise Network in Wiltshire which has Government and European money to help them, including free expert advice and business grants.
“There’s really nothing to lose in taking your idea to the next stage!”
The free networking event starts at 10am.
The Enterprise Network’s new Enterprise Centre at Ludgershall opened recently, offering purpose-built work space designed specifically for micro businesses, with opportunities to rent a desk by the hour or by the week.
