Police name young woman pedestrian killed in A36 crash as Kayleigh Quinn from Fordingbridge
POLICE have named a young woman who died when she was hit by a car on a busy Hampshire road.
She was hit by a silver Volkswagen Golf heading south at 11.15pm on Tuesday, September 24.
The Volkswagen driver, a 45-year-old man from Portsmouth was shaken but uninjured. He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention and was bailed until October 31 pending police inquiries.
The road was closed for around six hours to allow for a full investigation and recovery of the scene. Kayleigh’s family paid tribute to her today.
In a statement they said: “Kayleigh was very spirited and fun loving person. She had a very kind and caring nature and was always trying to help others.
“She loved spending time caring for her horses but her greatest love was for her three children. They mean the whole world to her. Kayleigh will be greatly missed by her family and friends.”
Police are investigating reports that Kayleigh had been standing in the middle of the road prior to the crash. She had previously been drinking at a nearby pub.
They are still appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information should contact the Whitchurch roads policing unit on 101 quoting Operation Subdivision.
