The event, which aims to promote knowledge of black history and experience, begins tomorrow.
Coming up next week is the Soul Train Radio Show on Voice FM on Tuesday and the Southampton Poetry Slam at Southampton City College on Thursday.
The official launch takes place on Thursday at the University of Southampton.
The Mayor of Southampton, Councillor Ivan White, and special guests will enjoy live music drawn from the catalogue of Joe Harriott, an international jazz saxophonist who is buried in a churchyard in Bitterne.
The launch is followed by The Wonder Band, Ebonie G and Aaron Soul at The Concorde Club as a full ten-piece band brings the magic of Stevie Wonder.
