Bacon rushers - pigs race through Hampshire market
10:37am Monday 30th September 2013 in News
A SQUEALING horde of piglets raced during a hog-themed day at the Hampshire Farmers’ Market.
The event in Winchester yesterday celebrated the humble Hampshire hog and featured a range of pig-themed competitions for children.
The centrepiece of the event, however, was the thrills and spills of piglet racing at the market in Middle Brook Street.
However it got off to a chaotic start when some of the piglets escaped from the van and had to be rounded up before the racing could start in earnest.
The day was the centrepiece of the market’s celebrations for British Food Fortnight, which runs until October 6.
