Talented Chandler's Ford musician Tom aiming high despite X Factor exit
HE may have missed out on the chance of X Factor glory but teenage Hampshire singer Tom Mann still has his eyes set on stardom.
The 19-year-old, from Chandler’s Ford, failed to make it through to the judges’ houses despite impressing at the audition stages of the hit ITV show.
Millions of viewers tuned in to see him perform renditions of Let Her Go by Passenger and Little Mix’s How Ya Doing, which secured him a place in the boot camp stage.
However his hopes of securing a life-changing record contract by winning the show were cut short when he failed to make it to the next stage in episodes shown at the weekend.
But the former Thornden School pupil remains upbeat and has high hopes for a career as a successful singer/songwriter.
His first steps were to perform an exclusive concert at Southampton’s Holiday Inn along with fellow X Factor contestant Giles Potter on Friday night.
Tom told the Daily Echo: “It is amazing for me. I am a Southampton boy and I am so proud of where I am from, so I am very pleased to have this opportunity at the Holiday Inn.
“X Factor is the ultimate show. When the opportunity came along this year, I went for it.
“The room at the first audition was very intimidating. You know who is sat there and it’s absolutely silent. Without an audience there you don’t know how it’s going, and on the back of such a long day it all feels like a weird dream.”
Tom, a part-time football coach, added: “The ultimate dream is to record an album and do stadium gigs.”
