SOUTHAMPTON’S singing superstar Craig David is set to receive a special honour as part of Black History Month.
Despite more than 13 million records sold worldwide, the 32-year-old has never forgotten his roots.
The former Bellemoor School pupil grew up on the Holyrood estate, and although he now lives in Miami, it is hoped that he will return to his home city for the unveiling of a plaque, which will be presented to him on behalf of the city.
Event coordinator Don John said it would be put up at a location in Southampton’s Cultural Quarter later in the month on a date yet to be decided.
He added: “It will be put up to mark his services to the city – what he has done is legendary.”
