Beer lovers flock to Kingsclere
FOAMING pints of real ale were the order of the day at the fourth Kingsclere Beer Festival.
The two-day event, held at the Fieldgate Centre, in Fieldgate Drive, attracted scores of punters keen to try the produce of local breweries.
There were ten beers on offer, including a selection from the Sherfield Village Brewery and West Berks Brewery, and drinkers could also choose from three different ciders.
Andrew Balding, trainer at Park House Stables and brother of TV presenter Clare Balding, got the festival under way on the first night.
More than 100 people turned up, including racing horse trainer Lord Huntingdon, and the night raised cash for St Mary’s Church.
On Saturday, band Open Road supplied the music while drinkers finished off the last of the ale.
Organiser Mike Harnetty said: “It’s about supporting local breweries but also raising money for the church and the centre.
“The centre needs money so this is an important event.”
