Thief steals veteran’s war medals
11:57am Friday 4th October 2013 in News
A WAR veteran has been the target of a callous thief who broke into his home while he was on holiday and fled with four of his Royal Navy medals.
The medals, and other sentimental items, were taken from the property in Greenaway Lane, Warsash, between September 28 and 29.
The stolen medals, which were awarded to the veteran during the course of his service in the Royal Navy, were the RN Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, the RN Far East Malasian Confrontation Medal, the RN Middle East (ADEN) Medal, and the RN Cyprus Medal.
The burglar took £200 in cash, a brass carriage clock, two women’s gold bangles and a small collection of coins, which include a number of florins, a 1920s silver dollar, a Queen’s jubilee coin and a Greek commemorative coin.
