Granting wishes helps with grief

GRANTING the wishes of seriously ill children before they die helps parents deal with their grief, a study has shown.
New research by the University of Southampton found that 21 per cent of parents whose children died soon after they had their wish were able to use the memories to help with their bereavement.
Led by Dr Anne-Sophie Darlington, senior research fellow, the study interviewed 235 parents of youngsters who have been granted a wish by the Make-A-Wish Foundation in the Netherlands.
