21 doves to remember brave Calum Townsend
12:15pm Monday 7th October 2013 in News
HIS LIFE was cut short by cancer but the legacy of this “lovable” teenager lives on.
In what was a poignant tribute to her son Calum Townsend, mum Dawn was joined by family at his graveside on what would have been his 21st birthday to release 21 white doves.
As previously reported, Calum lost his battle with cancer on April 12, last year, aged just 19. He had undergone an operation to remove a tumour from the bone in his arm and intensive chemotherapy.
Hundreds packed St Mary’s Church, in Bishopstoke, for his funeral and ever since, those who loved him have kept his memory alive.
The party at the pub included and raffle, karaoke, disco and face painting, with all money raised donated to the Teenager Cancer Trust, which supports young cancer patients at Southampton General Hospital.
