Winchester youth project marks 30th anniversary
4:00pm Wednesday 9th October 2013 in News
A WINCHESTER youth project celebrated its 30th anniversary this week.
Street Reach marked the occasion at its AGM on Monday, October 7 by inviting past chairmen to cut the birthday cake.
The scheme provides advice, support and activities for youngsters through outreach programmes rather than running a youth centre.
Current chairman Jackie Porter said: “We were delighted that Jeremy Ouvry, as one of the early trustees of the charity, could give us a description of why the charity was started 30 years ago, and how the project worked then. We were struck by the similarity of our work now.”
Mr Ouvry later became chairman in the early 1990s and joined another past chairman, Pamela Peskett, at the meeting, held at the University of Winchester.
