Patients evacuated after fire in Antelope House

PATIENTS at a Southampton psychiatric unit had to be evacuated from their rooms after a fire broke out last night.
Crews from St Mary's, Hightown and Redbridge fire stations were all called to Antelope House, in Brintons Terrace, at around 12.40am following blaze in one of the rooms of the unit.
By the time firefighters had arrived 18 people had been evacuated to another part of the building, leaving firefighters to go in a put out the flames, which were coming from a pile of clothes in the corner of the room.
Some damaged was caused but the crews were able to extinguish the fire before it was able to destroy the room.
The fire investigation team are now looking into the cause of the fire.
