Armed teen walks along M27 motorway
A TEENAGER sparked a major drama as he walked along a Hampshire motorway clutching a weapon.
He was reported to be walking along the hard shoulder on the M27 westbound in a drama that lasted an hour and a half and was said to be carrying a weapon.
The Highways Agency first attended, but as soon as the teen saw the marked vehicle he disappeared into undergrowth.
Police said he appeared to be holding what the Highways Agency thought was a knife, but was later found to be a screwdriver, in a "threatening" way.
Officers were then called in and saw the teenager who then went deep into woodland west of Rownhams and was found sitting in a walkway.
Authorities were first notified by a member of the public from Totton who called the incident in at 12.50pm at Rownhams Services.
The man was detained by 2.20pm.
