A PREHISTORIC man-eating dinosaur terrorised shoppers in Southampton City Centre yesterday.
A model Australoventar was escorted by three dinosaur rangers as the lifelike model stalked its prey through Marland’s shopping centre and down the high street.
The 10ft long 6ft high carnivore marked the beginning of Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo, a three-day show at Southampton’s Mayflower that will finish on Sunday.
A spokesperson from the theatre said: “There were adults screaming and children in awe of this dinosaur.
“He chased shoppers down the street and was even entering shops. People were attracted to this dinosaur; he even had a crowd of people following him.”
Dinosaur Zoo, which includes ten dinosaurs of various shapes and sizes, allows audiences to go close to these life-like model dinosaurs.
The model, which will be used in the show, was of the highest quality with wire framing and sound box inside which allowed the operator to interact with people and roar.
