Grandfather Ken Deacon wins £8,000 in Daily Echo Find the Ball competition
A GRANDFATHER bagged himself an early birthday present when he scooped a runner up prize in the Daily Echo's Find the Ball competition.
Ken Deacon, who lives in Berry Close, Southampton, clinched £8,000 after winning a nearest miss prize for coming closest to marking the correct position of the ball.
It comes a month before the retired Saints Academy coach and former Chelsea scout celebrates his 60th birthday on Saturday, November 9.
Mr Deacon, who will put the money towards a holiday in Barbados, said: “It’s fantastic.
“I’ve been entering Find the Ball on and off for years so it’s nice to get a prize.”
He is among three nearest misses who all shared £24,000 between them.
The others were Mrs J Phillip who won £12,000 and Mrs S Rutledge who won £4,000.
The jackpot for today’s competition is £26,000.
