FOOTBALLERS gave a new meaning to ‘the beautiful game’ when they modelled the latest high street designs for a fundraising fashion show.
Saints captain Adam Lallana, 25, Saints striker Billy Sharp, 27, who is on loan to Reading, and former Saint James Beattie, 35, who now manages Accrington Stanley, all swapped the pitch for the catwalk.
They joined professional models to strut their stuff for the final heat of a modelling competition.
Organised by James Beattie’s wife Sarah and her model agency business partner Kellyanne Morgan, the final round of The Face of South Coast Fashion Week competition raised cash for the Teenage Cancer Trust and was held at The Concorde Club in Eastleigh.
Their agency LMP Model Boutique is looking for a male and female to become the face of South Coast Fashion Week, which will be held at the Bournemouth International Centre next May.
Sarah from Southampton, who met husband James in a city nightclub, said she is keen for the winner of the competition to come from her hometown.
The 31-year-old mum-of-three said: “Everyone had a really good time, it was a lot of fun and the footballers really lifted the crowd. They were good sports.”
But should they leave their careers in football for the catwalk?
Sarah, added: “They were so nervous before they went on.
Adam in particular, who is completely at ease going out and scoring goals in a stadium packed full with people, said he had never felt so nervous.
“But I think once they got going they really enjoyed it because it was something really different so they all embraced it and had a really good time.
“Will they be the next big models of tomorrow?
“They soon became really confident with the catwalk, and they are all good looking lads so we’ll see!”
