A CHARITY’S annual ball has raised nearly £17,000.

The Joe Glover Trust, which works with children with cancer, held the James Bond themed event at Southampton’s Novotel.

More than 250 guests danced to local band The Strand and joined in an auction hosted by TV auctioneer Jonathan Pratt, which raised £8,000 alone.

The Colden Common based charity’s fundraising and events manager Victoria Stevens said: “It amazes me every year; the continued support. It’s humbling when you see a room full of people being so generous to help make such a huge difference to a local charity.

“The money raised will go such a long way in helping our families, who have received the devastating news that their child has been diagnosed with cancer.”
