1:40pm Monday 21st October 2013 in News
A MINUTE’S silence has taken place on board the Southampton-based liner Queen Victoria after a crewman was found dead.
The body of Pilipino Jim Monares, 23, was discovered in his cabin as the liner neared the end of its 24-day Black Sea and Turkish Splendours cruise.
A minute’s silence was held at the start of an interdenominational service conducted by the deputy captain.
Guests were asked if they wished to contribute to a collection for Mr Monares’s wife April and their young son.
The cause of death has yet to be established.
The Queen Victoria is due to return to Ocean Dock, Southampton, on Thursday.
