Planning chiefs give green light for new pub to be lit up.

PLANNING chiefs have given the green light for a new pub to be lit up.
The Cams Mill pub is being built within the grounds of the Cams Hall Estate and due to be finished later this year.
Now councillors have approved plans for site lighting, signage and lit up signs to be put up at the site, close to Portchester Road. Ten letters have objected to the signage, citing that it was overdevelopment, not in keeping with a conservation area, detracts from the original intent to replicate the mill and concerns over light pollution and the effect on animals. The Fareham Society also objected to the amount and scale of signage.
Concerns over light pollution and wildlife were raised in seven letters of objection to the lighting, though officers judged it acceptable. The council officer’s report recommended the applications for permission and noted that a number of signs had been altered and three removed from the initial application, while lighting had been reduced, with bollard lighting in the car park instead of pole lighting.
Both were approved by councillors subject to one of the lights being moved.
