Woman who stabbed man is jailed
3:47pm Friday 25th October 2013 in News
A WILTSHIRE woman is behind bars after she stabbed a man in the stomach at a working men’s club.
Elaine Pledge, of Netheravon, was sentenced to 10 years in prison at Winchester Crown Court today.
The 55-year-old was found guilty of stabbing a man at Netheravon and District Working Men’s Club in May this year.
Pledge – who is also known as Jackie – walked into the club at 9.45am on Saturday, 11 May and went into the kitchen, where she picked up a knife. After she had stabbed the man – who was standing at the bar - she went to walk out.
However, she was detained by people in the club until the police arrived.
The victim, a local man aged 52-years-old, tried to walk home but an ambulance was called and he was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital for treatment. He has since made a full recovery.
Dc Mark Lewis said: 'Wiltshire Police remain determined to take a strong stance against violent crime, especially crimes involving the use of knives.
“The sentence which has been passed today accurately reflects the seriousness and circumstances of the offence.
“We hope that this will bring closure for the victim, who was required to attend court to give evidence and recall the events of that terrible incident.'
