Pensioner promised girl £1 before abusing her
A PENSIONER enticed a young girl into the stairwell at a block of flats by promising her £1.
After abusing her, he gave her the coin but the youngster threw it away, Southampton Crown Court was told.
Anthony Willetts, 67, was arrested after the girl, who had been quiet and withdrawn, told her mother what had happened.
Willetts, of Lydgate Road, Southampton, admitted assault by penetration and was jailed for three years. “You took advantage of this young girl,” said Judge Andrew Barnett. “You have robbed her of her childhood.”
In mitigation, Alistair Wright said there was nothing he could put forward about the offence which was “horrible.”
Willetts, of previous good character, was made the subject of a seven-year sexual offences prevention order and placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
