Update: Travel and power disruption continues after storm
7:32am Tuesday 29th October 2013 in News
The 100 mile an hour storm that hit the south is still causing major problems of commuters and householders today.
More than 10,000 homes in the Scottish and Southern Eelectric region were without power this morning.
So far the company says 4000 of those homes have been reconnected.
Across the country the Energy Networks Association said 459,000 homes suffered power cuts across England, with 166,000 still disconnected.
That includes areas of the New Forest, Basingstoke and Petersfield.
A spokesman said: "Engineers will be out again at first light to continue to work in these areas with the aim of restoring electricity to all remaining households."
Meanwhile some rail commuters also continue to face disruption.
While a majority of services are back to normal the line from Eastleigh to Fareham is still blocked with a fallen tree, and so was the line from Lymington Pier to Brockenhurst, but that has now been cleared.
