They will take part in a ceremony in front of the Haslar Hospital tomorrow, where some 200 troops will receive their Afghanistan Operational Medals Those who will have completed the required number of days ‘in theatre’, and for whom this will have been their first tour, will be presented with their medal.
Afterwards the troops will march out of Fort Blockhouse, behind the Band of the Royal Marines, along the waterfront to the Timespace off of Esplanade de Royan for a service of thanksgiving at 11am attended by civic dignitaries and the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, Dame Mary Fagan.
Following the service, at around 11.30am troops will parade through Gosport’s High Street up to the Town Hall where Dame Mary will take the salute.
