Heart doctor’s masterclass
2:50pm Wednesday 30th October 2013 in News
A SOUTHAMPTON heart doctor took part in a unique masterclass so that he can bring the latest treatments to city patients.
Southampton General Hospital’s Dr George Koulaouzides learned first-hand about a range of new heart imaging techniques which could help save the lives of more patients.
The masterclass in cardiovascular magnetic resonance for coronary heart disease was the first of its kind to take place in the UK thanks to funding from Heart Research UK.
The event was led by Professors Sven Plein and John Greenwood, both consultant cardiologists at Leeds General Infirmary.
Cardiologist Dr Koulaouzides said: “I have used MRI scanning in my work but I wanted to increase my knowledge and expand my experience so that my patients can benefit.”
