Southampton students warned as burglars strike again
POLICE have issued a plea for students in Southampton to keep their valuables hidden after two houses were targeted by thieves.
A house in Holyrood Avenue in Highfield had a large rock thrown through the ground-floor front bedroom window between 3.30am and 4am.
The victim, a 20-year-old man, who was asleep at the time, was woken by the sound of smashing glass and saw that his Macbook Pro had been taken.
Another house in Hartley Avenue was targeted between 4am and 4.30am.
At the time four of the occupants were having a meal, and although they heard a noise, they thought nothing of it.
Two men living there later went to their rooms to find that around £400 in Hong Kong dollars had been stolen.
Both burglaries happened on October 29, and police have urged students to be vigilant.
Anyone with any information should contact police staff investigator Shelley Ripley at Bitterne police station by calling 101.
