Rail services in Hampshire were hit by a signalling fault this morning.

Trains were unable to operate between Eastleigh and Romsey and taxis were used to ferry customers between the two towns.

A South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance spokesman said: “Services between Eastleigh and Romsey were disrupted this morning due to a signalling problem in the Romsey area.

“As a result, taxis replaced trains for a short time between Romsey and Eastleigh.

“Train services have now been restored in the area but we would like to apologise for the delays this will have caused for some customers.”
