Winchester councillors refuse plans for house in back garden
12:30pm Thursday 31st October 2013 in News
WINCHESTER councillors have refused proposals to build a detached house in a back garden, because of concerns about the effect on local character.
The proposal outlined a four-bed detached property and separate garage, with access from Harestock Road, to be built overlooking Lovett Walk.
But the planning committee rejected the proposal after hearing similar schemes locally had been turned down.
The council’s main concern was that trees, currently protected by preservation orders, would need to be trimmed or felled and that this would be “detrimental to the character of the neighbourhood”.
