Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following Oakridge shooting
A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 29-year-old suffered gunshot wounds to his legs and buttocks.
The 25-year-old, from Basingstoke, is in police custody.
Detectives from the Hampshire Major Investigation Team are continuing their investigation into the incident, which was believed to have happened in Bennet Close, Oakridge, between 10pm and midnight on Friday, October 25, and is believed to have been a targeted attack.
The 29-year-old man from Basingstoke went to Basingstoke hospital on Monday evening with gunshot wounds.
He remains in hospital and is being treated for his injuries, which are not life threatening.
Detective Inspector Stephen Spencer, who is leading the investigation, said: “Since becoming aware of the incident we have been conducting many enquiries in the area to establish the exact circumstances of what happened.
“The information we have so far suggests this was an isolated, targeted attack and there is no risk to the wider public.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has assisted us so far with our investigations, and ask anyone who has any information and hasn’t yet spoken to us to get in touch.”
