Ghost Cast Dancing for Children in Need
EXPECT a sprinkling of sequins as the cast of Ghost The Musical go all Strictly Come Dancing for one night only this weekend.
For the last five months, 12 terrified technicians from the touring company of the West End hit have been taught to dance by 12 professional dancers from the cast, all in aid of the BBC’s Children in Need Appeal.
On Sunday, they will demonstrate their skills in front of a panel of judges including star of the stage Jason Donovan, a previous Strictly contestant himself, former EastEnder Nigel Harman and Wendy Mae Brown – who plays Oda Mae Brown in the musical version of the Oscar-winning movie – as part of a grand charity fundraising gala.
The evening, hosted by BBC South Today’s Sally Taylor, will include traditional partner dancing, group sequences and all manner of genres including tap, ballet and hip hop.
Audiences can enjoy a star cabaret, a charity raffle with prizes including £600 worth of jewellery and tickets to lots of West End shows, and plenty of surprises.
The night will also include a one-off voiceover special from Peter Dickson, the voice behind The X Factor.
Ghost company manager Neil White told the Daily Echo that every one of the 52 people who tour with Ghost has got involved with the event, with many of the crew taking up exercise for the first time, giving up alcohol and fatty foods and one contestant even losing two stone in just ten weeks.
Tickets are priced at £20 and all funds raised from the event will go to Children in Need.
