Night sky set to come alive with big blasts and sparkling colours this weekend
THE skies above Hampshire are set to sparkle with bright colours as a weekend of fireworks displays gets underway.
Tens of thousands of people are set to attend a series of events on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
Here are some of the major fireworks events going on in our area: Today, Strawberry Field Tavern in Locks Heath Shopping Village will be hosting a fireworks night in aid of Smile4Wessex, from 5pm to 8pm. From 5pm until 8pm fairground rides and craft stalls will be on offer to shoppers at Locks Heath Shopping Village.
Top Elvis tribute act, Craig Jefferson, will kick off the celebrations from 6pm and the spectacular fireworks display will then take place at approximately 7.30pm.
The fireworks night is free to attend however there will be the opportunity for spectators to donate to Smile4Wessex, a local charity which helps fund projects which enhance the range and quality of patient care at the Wessex Neurological Centre.
The Ageas Bowl's annual fireworks extravaganza kicks off tonight, with inflatable games and live music as well as a small fun-fair in the build-up to the 20-minute firework display set to a chart music soundtrack.
Tickets can be bought via the Ageas Bowl website, by calling 0844 847 1863 or in person during office hours.
Tickets cost £8 for adults and £6 for Under 16s. Under 5s are free but will not require a ticket. Family passes (two adults, two juniors Under 16) will be available from £22. A limited number of car parking spaces are also available from £5 per car.
Gates open at 6pm with fireworks scheduled for an 8pm start.
There are limited tickets left for this year's Winchester fireworks event tomorrow night.
Events start at 6pm with our Procession from the Broadway through to River Park Leisure Centre, with the lighting of the Bonfire at 7.15pm and the Fireworks Spectacular at 7.45pm.
Some retailers still have limited tickets remaining but people will only be able to buy tickets on the day at the High Street market from members of the Round Table until 4pm.
The tickets cost £3 each in advance and some will be available on the door after 5pm at £5 each.

Royal Victoria Country Park, in Netley Abbey will have a spectacular display to music, during an event tomorrow running from 7.30pm to 10pm. Refreshments will available on the field and the new Ice Rink will also be open. Plus, have a go on the miniature train and mini fun fair (before and after the display).
The Cedar Tea rooms will also be open until 7.30pm. Price: Adults £5, Children £3 in advance. Adults £7, children £5 on the gate. Family ticket (2+2) £20. Gates open 6pm Display 7.30pm.
An annual firework display is happening at Totton Sports Club, Southern Gardens, Totton tomorrow , 6.30pm to 11pm. Children's fairground rides, Karaoke disco after show, delicious hog roast and barbecue, hot refreshments, licensed bars and music.

If you don't fancy a firework night, then the YMCA Family Park and Campsite, at Fairthorne Manor in Curdridge, is putting on a Bonfire activity afternoon tomorrow, running from 3pm to 7.30am.
This is a fun filled afternoon and evening with lots of creative outdoor activities for the whole family to enjoy and share. At 3pm is Fire Lighting, Marshmallow Roasting, Den Building, Pumpkin Carving, Pretzle Making, Arts & Crafts, Clay Art, Nature Art and a barbecue.
There are also other activities available during the afternoon.
A campfire and singalong starts at 6pm. Coffee shop and bar open for light refreshments, including hot chocolate and cakes.
