Warning after card skimming scam uncovered by police in Southampton city centre
A card skimming operation has been uncovered by police.
Officers are now advising users of a particular cash machine in Southampton to contact their banks.
Two men were seen tampering with the outdoor cash machine at Nelson Gate, in the city, to the northside of Southampton Central Railway station.
The machine is outside the local Co-op store and a small covert camera and a card reader device were located.
PC Wayne Cockman said: “If you used the machine between 6pm October 23, and 11.30pm October 24, you are advised to contact your bank to advise them of this suspicious incident.”
Police also released CCTV images of two men who were in the area at the time and who could have information about the tampering incident.
Anyone who recognises the men in the CCTV is asked to contact PC Cockman at Southampton Central on 101.
