The South Ham singer will take part in football match at London's Soccer Dome
A BASINGSTOKE singer has been selected to take part in a charity football match with various well-known faces from the world of entertainment.
Ryan Upton, from South Ham, will play alongside the Loveable Rogues, former X Factor contestants Frankie Cocozza and District 3, Basingstoke boy band Concept, and Ricci and James, from reality TV show Geordie Shore.
The 20-year-old will take part in the football match at London’s Soccer Dome on December 1, in front of 1,200 people, before performing in the evening at an after-show party.
The event will raise money for Hearts and Goals, which was set up to help tackle sudden cardiac arrest, following the sudden collapse mid-game of Bolton Wanderers footballer Fabrice Muamba, in March 2012.
Ryan, who works at Sainsbury’s warehouse, in Houndmills, said: “I was shocked when I was asked to take part. I was also excited. I have done gigs around Basingstoke but this is my first proper big gig.”
He added: “I write my own music and sing pop, R&B and indie, and change songs into my own style.”
