A University of Southampton student has been nominated for an award after making waves on the radio.
Emma Real-Davies, 21, of Reading, is in the running to be named ‘Best Female Presenter’ in the Student Radio Awards.
It is the second year in succession that the English Literature student has been nominated for the award, which is supported by BBC Radio 1 and is seen as a springboard into the industry.
Emma said: “I’m completely overjoyed and so happy to be shortlisted once again.”
“I was so happy to be nominated last year but this year it really means much more. I am hoping I can pursue a career in the industry.”
Emma has her own show at the university’s station Surge Radio. She also works as a station programme controller and helps develop other student radio DJs.
“My love of radio comes from my interest in entertaining and meeting new people,” she added.
The finals for the Student Radio award will be held at the 02 Arena, London, on Thursday.
