Hampshire firefighters' second day of action
10:30am Monday 4th November 2013 in News
FIREFIGHTERS across Hampshire today walked out on strike for the second time in four days.
Crews were taking to the picket line between 6am and 8am following a row over pensions and retirement age proposals put forward by Westminster.
It comes after firefighters across the country walked out on Friday night. Fire chiefs reported that there were no serious incidents during the action.
The fire service will remain in operation throughout the periods of action and will be answering calls as normal, but it is urging the public to take “extra care” to help reduce calls during the strikes.
Fireworks lovers are being urged to attend organised displays rather than holding them at home and householders have been reminded to fit working smoke alarms.
