A REGIONAL airline which provides regular flights from Southampton airport has appointed a new non-executive chairman.
Flybe has today announced that Jim French who has held the post since 2005 has stepped down and Simon Laffin has been appointed.
Simon is a qualified private pilot and currently chairman of property firms Assura Group Limited and chairman of the audit committee at Quintain Estates & Development PLC.
He has previously worked as a group finance and property director at former supermarket chain Safeway and as a non-executive director at marketing firm Aegis Group Plc, pub and restaurant chain Mitchells & Butlers plc and on the rescue team at Northern Rock.
Simon joins Flybe’s new chief executive officer Saad Hammad who was appointed this summer.
He said: “I am delighted to be joining the Board and, in particular, look forward to working with Saad Hammad. Flybe has many challenges ahead, but I believe that under the new management team the Group will be developed into a leading regional aviation operator.”
Jim French, who joined Flybe in 1990, said: “We are fortunate to have attracted two high calibre and experienced individuals to lead the group in the future. I wish Simon and Saad, the executive team and all members of staff the very best for the future.”
