NO street could have looked prettier as a lantern parade lit up Winchester last night.

The procession, which marked the start of Advent, began at the Great Hall before children and parents made their way down the High Street towards the Cathedral’s outer close.

Daily Echo:

Hundreds of self-made ornate lanterns, including traditional puddings, presents and a turkey, stretched as far as the eye could see, as children clung on tightly to their works of art.

Lanterns were made earlier in the year in preparation for this year’s celebration theme, using willow and tissue paper, at specialist workshops in The Brooks Shopping Centre.

Daily Echo:

The festive event culminated in a family fun party, which featured Wave 105 DJ Simon Clarke and a special performance from the 1950s-style band the Cadillacs.
