A PUB in Romsey has suddenly closed its doors - but the brewery that owns it has assured the Daily Echo that its future is secure.

Landlords Iain Holloway and his fiancé Tracey Hall took The Romsey Tavern on temporarily at the beginning of 2011.

But the couple served their last pint at the premises when it closed for maintenance work on November 17.

Owners Star Pubs & Bars say they hope to re-open the pub with temporary management next week while they look for a new, permanent landlord who will take the business on after it is given a makeover in the new year.

A spokesperson from the pub chain said: “The Tavern is closed for essential maintenance following a change of management. “It had been run by temporary managers and will be reopened in the next week under new temporary management until a lessee is found to take on the pub, which we intend to refurbish in the new year.” Anyone interested in taking on the pub should contact Star Pubs & Bars on 0500 949 596.
