THE madam of a former Southampton brothel who raked in thousands of pounds from clients which enabled her to buy three houses, has been ordered to pay back another £4,000.

Sharon Moir, who once drove around Southampton in a car modified to resemble a Ferrari, was jailed for three years in 2007 following a two-week trial for running a major part of the city’s sex industry.

The following year she appeared before a judge who heard she had made more than £700,000 from her sex for sale services.

However, her realisable assets were deemed to be £17,460 which she was ordered to pay, and has done.

However, the police have now brought the mother-oftwo back to court after discovering she had another £5,000 in her bank account – and said more could still be taken from her.

Judge Derwin Hope heard that Moir, who now lived at Tangmere, West Sussex, owned two other properties in Southampton but they were said to be in negative equity and in a poor state.

Her solicitor, Terence Brookes, described them as “dilapidated” with repairs needed to their roofs, boilers burst and “things like that.”

The houses, he added, were due to be occupied by tenants.

Following discussions outside court, it was agreed Moir would pay a further £4,000 in terms of a confiscation order. She was given 28 days to pay with a month in prison in default.

However, the judge warned her that if the properties came out of negative equity, then she could face another similar application.

“She understands that,”

Mr Brookes replied.

Jurors at her trial at the city crown court in 2007 heard how her “girls” – who charged men £150 a time, with £50 going to Moir – were left scared and frightened working for her, claiming she was never there when they needed help and she was often too drunk to answer the agency’s phone.

They alleged she sent them out to see clients known to have bad reputations and would pester them to take on more business, despite pleading they wanted to go home.

Moir even allowed her home in Sholing Road, Southampton, to be used as a brothel.

She was jailed after being convicted on three counts of running brothels, three charges of controlling prostitution for personal gain, and one of inciting prostitution for personal gain.
