IT WAS a ‘bald’ move to help a Southampton charity.
Janina Ray raised money for Southampton Rape Crisis (SRC) by having her head shaved. She said she wanted to help people in the wake of Operation Yewtree and the Jimmy Savile cases.
Janina, 38, a Royal Mail manager, said: “I saw all these stories on the news and in articles about how it’s had an impact on people who weren’t even related to the Savile cases.
"The SRC is a local charity which works with men, women and young people aged 12 and above and I wanted to benefit something local.
“I have three kids, a dog and a husband and work full-time, so I don’t have time to train for anything so I thought this was a good way of raising cash.”
Janina, of Downton Road, Bitterne Park, added that her husband Nick and 10-year-old daughter Laura were worried about the new look but that everyone supported the new ‘do’.
The shave took place at Hop Inn in Woodmill Lane on Sunday, but you can still donate by visiting mydonate.bt.com/ fundraisers/janinasheadshave or sponsorme.co.uk/janinaray/janinas’-head-shave.aspx.
