POLICE are appealing for a handbag snatcher to return photos of a dead child.

The images were in a 44-year-old New Milton woman’s bag when they were taken on Friday, November 15.

She was walking to the car park between Ashley Road and Elm Avenue, New Milton, when a man on a bicycle stole the bag.

It contained four photographs, one of which was of her deceased daughter and is one of few remaining photos of the child.

The handbag also contained other family photos, a blue and white tartan purse with gold clasp, £300 cash and codeine tablets.

Police confirmed that the photos are the only item she wants returned.

PC Kieron Maddock, of Lymington police station, said: “I appeal to the person responsible for the theft to return the photograph to New Milton police station. It is the least he can do.”

The cyclist was described as slim, in his 20s, wearing a scruffy green Puffa-style jacket, blue jeans, trainers and a grey/brown woolly hat.

Anyone with information should contact PC Maddock on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
