POLICE are linking two attempted burglaries in Southampton last month.

A 28-year-old man was woken by loud banging on his front door in Richmond Gardens, Portswood, and was confronted by three men, one of whom had a crowbar.

The man with the crowbar said they had the wrong house and they left. He was described as white, stocky, aged between 45 and 50, with bushy eyebrows and wearing dark clothing.

Later the same day a 28-year-old woman found three men trying to force their way into her home in River Walk, Bitterne. They walked away along Forest Hills Drive after she challenged them. The men were white, spoke with foreign accents and wore green and cream khaki clothing and caps.

Both incidents occurred on November 12, the first at 2.30pm and the second at around 3.30pm.

Nothing was taken and no one was injured in either attempt.

Anyone with information should contact Det Sgt Sharon Austin at Bitterne CID on 101.
