A MAN was slashed in the face in an early morning assault in Hampshire.
Police were called to a house in Twyford Road, Eastleigh, at 8.31am today to reports of an assault in a ground floor flat.
Officers say an assailant knocked on the back door of the property and attacked a 37-year-old man.
They believe pepper spray may have been used and the victim was left with a laceration above his right eye.
Occupants in the property were evacuated from the scene after the pepper spray was dispensed.
Police are currently at the flats and have cordoned off the building.
A 20-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm following the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to call Eastleigh CID on 101.
