THEY will be giving Father Christmas a helping hand in spreading festive cheer.

The Romsey Round Tablers will be out and about as they aim to raise thousands for good causes across the district.

And they are calling for people to nominate their favourite cause so that they can benefit from this season’s fundraising effort.

As the days tick down to Christmas they will be joining Santa on his musical sleigh as he visits towns across Romsey and Chandlers Ford.

They will be at Chandler’s Ford on December 7 and 20, West Wellow on December 8, Horseshoe Drive, Romsey on December 13, Abbotswood on December 14, Halterworth on December 15, Fishlake Meadows on December 21 and Whitenap on December 22.

They will also fit in performing several medieval Mummers plays at The White Horse in Ampfield, Keats, The Potters Heron, The South Garden and the Old House at Home on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings throughout December.

The Romsey Round Tables is a group of men aged 18 to 45 from the Romsey and Chandler’s Ford area who meet regularly for a mixture of fundraising and hair-raising activities, including gliding, sailing and orienteering.

They hope to raise £5,000 before Christmas which they will distribute to worthy causes that provide care or services to others in the community.

Last year they donated £3,750 to charities and organisations during the Christmas giveaway and the organisations that have benefited from their 2013 fundraising so far include Naomi House hospice for youngsters battling cancer and Honey Pot, which supports young carers. Both charities received £5,500.
