POLICE raced to intercept a supposed burglary only to find it was someone locked out of their home.
Six officers responded to the call to Richmond Close, Chandler’s Ford, as an emergency after being told by a member of the public at a bus stop opposite who had seen a man climb into a ground window of a flat.
Thinking it was a burglary they alerted the police, who on arrival cut off the entrances at the back and front to prevent any escape.
But they then found that the homeowner had locked himself after going outside for a cigarette.
Officers were quickly stood down from the incident, which unfolded 3pm on Thursday
